Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the General Manager will oversee and direct all property management and operational matters for Avalon Mall. Avalon Mall is the largest enclosed shopping mall in St. John’s, Newfoundland, featuring approximately 550,000 square feet of highly-desirable leasable area. In order to enhance customers’ experience further, Crombie has initiated a three-year, multi phased, redevelopment of Avalon. Phase 1 of this redevelopment is currently underway and includes the construction of a four-level 875 space parking structure, redesign and realignment of the main mall vehicular access, and the redesign and renovation of the mall's interior common areas.

As our General Manager you will play a key role throughout this redevelopment. You will be responsible for cultivating strong and long-lasting relationships with our customers, tenants, vendors, and stakeholders. You will oversee tenant and customer service initiatives and communications that enhance the experiences of guests to our property.

Service oriented and acting with a sense of urgency, the General Manager will set operational goals for the region that are aligned with the company’s strategy and objectives. You will manage all operational matters for Avalon Mall including but not limited to, preventative maintenance, energy management, environmental management, waste management, landscaping, pest control, property security, snow removal, parking lot and roof maintenance, cleaning operations, client coordination, and Occupational Health & Safety initiatives.

The profile we are looking for

Our ideal candidate would have five to seven years of property management and building operations experience within an enclosed center and previous experience in the redevelopment of an enclosed center will be considered an asset. A post secondary degree in Business Administration is preferred, however individuals with budgeting, forecasting and variance reporting experience will be considered as well. Strong leadership, team building and organizational skills are a must. As a representative of our organization, you must have superior communication and leadership capabilities to lead our client’s first minded team. You must be able to capitalize on opportunities, and remove obstacles to promote growth.
